History

1952

College of Geoexploration Science and Technology of Jilin University can be traced back to the Department of Physical prospecting, Northeast Institute of Geology, which was established in 1952.

1958

Northeast Institute of Geology was renamed Changchun Institute of Geology in 1958.

1996

Department of Geophysics (1952), Department of Geochemistry (1980) and Teaching & Research Section of Remote Sensing(1978) jointly established the College of Geoexploration and Information Technology of Changchun University of Science and Technology in 1996. In 1999, Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering was merged into the college.

2001

Former Changchun University Science and Technology was merged in to Jilin University in 2000. College of Geoexploration and Information Technology was formally renameded as College of Geoexploration Science and Technology of Jilin University in 2001.
